IIT Delhi Introduction
IIT Delhi is the “Institute of Eminence” declared by Indian Government. It offers more than 100 courses under UG, PG, Dual, and Doctoral degrees. Other than the degree courses, the institute also offers 8 certificate programs to UG and PG students. IIT Delhi has its main campus in Hauz Delhi promoting all major activities of the institute. In addition, the institute also has two extension campuses, one in Sonepat, and one in Jhajjar.
IIT Delhi Sonepat campus was established in 2018 by the Govt of Haryana. The campus is a part of Technopark focusing on Executive MBA, and Faculty Development programs for the engineering and technical colleges of Haryana state. On the other hand, IIT Delhi Jhajjar campus is in Badsa Village. The campus, along with AIIMS Delhi’s Jhajjar campus is setting up a biomedical research park at this campus. The major programs offered at IIT Delhi are in the fields of Engineering, Physical Sciences, Management, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Amongst all, the flagship program of the institute is BTech. Selection to the program is based on the JEE Advanced exam and participation in the JoSaa Counselling. IIT Delhi Cutoff for the BTech program requires a rank between 1-100 rank in the JEE Avanced exam. Candidates qualifying for the admission are charged INR 1,24,000 per semester.
In addition to these, the institute also offers 8 certificate programs to UG and PG students. These online courses are of 6 months duration (approx) with fees ranging from INR 50k to INR 1 Lac. IIT Delhi cutoff is the minimum score required for admission to BTech, MTech, MSc, MBA, and BDes courses. MTech cutoff for IIT Delhi admission was released by COAP 2022 counselling on May 20. MSc cutoff was released by IIT JAM counselling on June 1, 15, 24, and July 6 in accordance with the rounds conducted. For BDes course, UCEED 2022 released round-wise cutoff scores on April 10, May 10, and June 10. IIT Delhi BTech program is rated 2nd position in the Engineering category of NIRF rankings 2022. The program has a total of 14 specializations and 1045 student capacity. IIT Delhi MTech program is specialized in 47 streams. The program is provided in full-time and part-time mode to the sponsored and regular students. admission for a full-time degree requires 300-600 scores in the GATE exam. Students without GATE scores can also apply for admissions. The institute also has a provision of direct admission. For this, the aspirant must have a BTech degree from an IIT with an 8.0 CGPA.
The part-time MTech degree at IIT Delhi is designed for working professionals and lasts between 6-10 semesters. In each semester, the workload is significantly lower than that of full-time students. IIT Delhi offers a range of scholarships, financial support, teaching assistance facilities for UG, PG, and Ph.D. students. Interested students can apply to the following scholarships based on the eligibility criteria.
Undergraduate Scholarship
- Institute Free Studentship-U.G.: This scholarship is open for 10% of students. Scholarship is dispersed on the basis of income alone.
- Institute Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to about 25% of UG Engineering Students. Scholarship includes INR 1000 per month and tuition fee exemption. To claim this scholarship parental income should be less than 4.5 Lac annually.
- Institute Merit Prizes and Certificates: Top 7% of students from B.Tech & B.Tech Dual Degree are rewarded with an amount of INR 2500 up to the 8th and 10th semesters.
- Scholarship provision for SC/ST students: Under this scholarship, SC/ST students are exempted from the tuition fees.
- Donor Scholarship: These scholarship are offered through grant recieved from individuals and organisations.
Postgraduate Scholarship
- Merit-cum-Means (MCM) Scholarships: M.Sc Students are provided INR 1000 per month, however, only to students with parents’ income is less than INR 4.5 LPA.

IIT Delhi has technologically advanced campus which is spread across 325 acres of land. University has developed two more campuses at Sonepat and Jhajjar apart from Hauz Khas which is main campus. Hauz Khas campus has state of art architecture, modern classrooms, labs and libraries.

MA in IIT Delhi are Minor/Interdisciplinary Area Specialization commonly known as Minor Area (MA).When a student opts for such a specialization and / or a minor area, he / she can use 10 open category (OC) credits (mandatory degree requirement) towards the specialization and/or minor area requirements. For example, a student registered for B.Tech (Chemical Engg.) and opting for minor area in Computer Science, can opt for courses prescribed for the minor area, as part of mandatory 10 credits requirements under OC. He/she will need to do additional 10 credits for completing the Minor area requirements.
