When Will Practical Exams Be Held?

According to the board, Practical Exams, Project Assessments, and Internal Assessments for both classes will be held from January 1 to February 14, 2026. Schools need to follow this schedule to avoid problems for students later.

The board has attached a detailed list of Class 10 and 12 subjects with the circular. This will help schools conduct practical exams, projects, and internal assessments smoothly. It has also warned schools to read the instructions carefully and not ask for corrections later.

The board has also shared the complete marking scheme for all subjects in the 2026 board exams. The annexure shows the class, subject code, subject name, and maximum marks for theory, practicals, project work, and internal assessment.

The notice also mentions whether an external examiner will be appointed and whether the board will provide practical answer books. It also specifies the type of answer book to be used for theory exams.

The notice confirms that each subject carries 100 marks in total. These marks are divided across theory, practical, project, and internal assessment based on the subject.

Board Warns Schools About Mark Upload Errors

In the notice, CBSE said that schools often make mistakes while uploading marks for Practical Exams, Project Assessments, and Internal Assessments. The board has seen such errors in past years. It has asked schools to be careful during the uploading process. The board also said it won't allow corrections if the error happened due to carelessness.

Detailed Subject List Released

To help schools conduct all assessments properly, a detailed subject-wise list for Class 10 and Class 12 has been attached to the circular. The list includes this information for each subject:

  • Class
  • Subject code
  • Subject name
  • Maximum marks for Theory Examination
  • Maximum marks for Practical Examination
  • Maximum marks for Project Assessment
  • Maximum marks for Internal Assessment
  • Whether an external examiner is appointed
  • Whether the board provides practical answer books
  • Type of answer book for Theory Examination

Each Subject Carries 100 Marks Total

The circular confirms that every subject has 100 marks in total. These marks are divided across theory, practical, project, and internal assessment based on how the subject is structured. Schools need to review the annexure carefully before conducting assessments.

Clarification on Theory Answer Books

The board has also clarified what type of answer book will be used in Theory Exams. This includes the number of pages provided. CBSE said this information will help schools prepare in advance and avoid problems during exams.

Schools Must Follow Instructions Strictly

The notice ends by telling all schools to complete Practical Exams, Project Assessments, and Internal Assessments within the given timeline. They must follow all the instructions issued. CBSE has said that strict compliance is necessary for smooth conduct of 2026 board exams.
