The Central Board of Secondary Education has conducted the English exam for 10th class students Saturday, March 23, 2019. The English examination has garnered a mixed review from both students and teachers. some have called the examination to be easy as compared to last year, many have termed the literature section to be difficult. Grammar section was found to be simple by most students. Based on initial feedback received by the, the literature section had many students quizzing.

According to a teacher with Amity International School, Pushp Vihar, application-based questions were asked in the literature part. “The grammar was straight forward and even writing section had simple questions. An eight marks question based on the novel was application based and students might give some time phrasing answers. Overall, the examination can be termed as easy and the number of students getting good marks can rise but with this simple question paper we can expect strict marking.”

Neelu Jawla, English Teacher, Vidyagyan, Bulandhshahr said, “The literature part covered almost all the chapters, those students had left any would face difficulty. Also, as compared to last years where most questions were straight forwards based on character sketch etc, questions in this year’s papers were opinion-based and some candidates might take time in understanding what exactly the question demand.” She further adds, “If a student has learned the NCERT thoroughly and has a basic understanding right, they would not face any problems. The three-hour exam started at 10:30 am. It constituted of three parts, Reading, Writing and Literature, all for 80 marks.
