The Central Board of Secondary Education is likely to begin a new subject - Health Science, related to the basic awareness of primary healthcare. The syllabus raised by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the AIIMS will be added to the current curriculum of CBSE for standards 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th. “We had done a small review prior to planning this course on knowledge related to basic health relief like what wants to be quickly done if a dog bites before troubling a doctor. And we found that several are still not informed of basic healthcare needs,” an official said, requesting anonymity.

The new subject is a guideline on what can be done if someone quickly gets a heart attack or any other health risk to get immediate relief. “Because of lack of basic information related to curing, patients are often brought to hospitals when they are in danger. Many lives can be saved if the basic actions are followed,” the official added. According to sources, the new subject is currently being reviewed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and would be added in the new academic session which starts in April.
