Assam Board Exam 2021 Update : Assam Class 10th, 12th Board Exams Postponed Due To Surge In COVID-19 Cases

Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases across the state, Assam Classes 10 and 12 board examinations have been postponed until further orders. Both Class 10 (HSLC) and Class 12 (HS) board examinations were scheduled to begin on May 11.

"In view of the prevailing situation of Covid-19 in the state of Assam, it has been decided to postpone the HSLC/AHM Examination 2021, scheduled to be held from 11th May 2021. The revised schedule of the said examination shall be announced shortly after consultation with the state health department," read the notification issued by Suranjana Senapati, Secretary, Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA).

The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has also ordered the postponement of the Class 12 boards exam. “Due to prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Higher Secondary final examinations 2021 scheduled to be held from 11 May, 2021, has been postponed until further order,” AHSEC said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Class 10 practical exams have already been held on March 4 and 5 at multiple examination centres across the state.

Assam Higher Education Council (AHSEC) had earlier announced the postponement of the HS First year examination that was slated to begin on May 4 citing the pandemic situation.

“In view of the COVID-19 situation, the HS First year examination, 2021 has been postponed until further orders. It is to inform you that the council has made all preparation for both the examinations,” reads the official notification.


AP Board Exam 2021 Update : Andhra Pradesh Class 12th Exam 2021 Postpones

Andhra Pradesh has announced the postponement of the year-end examinations for Intermediate or Class 12 students, "in deference to the suggestion of the High Court." State Education Minister A Suresh said in a statement that they have decided to put off the examinations till normalcy is restored. The Andhra Pradesh Class 12 board exams have been postponed amid rising COVID-19 cases in the state. The Class 12 students will have to check the official website for the revised board exams date sheet.

The Education Minister, however, remained silent on the exams for Class 10 students.

"The High Court has asked us to reconsider the decision to go ahead with the Intermediate examinations (from May 6), in view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation. We have also taken into consideration the concerns of the students and parents," Suresh said. He said a fresh schedule for the Intermediate exams would be announced after the situation returned to normal. "We will inform this to the High Court tomorrow," the Minister added.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court is currently hearing two public interest litigation petitions filed by some students against the government's decision to go ahead with the examinations for Classes 10 and Intermediate, despite the virulent spread of coronavirus in the state.

With the release of the AP Inter admit card 2021, many students and parents had earlier registered their protest on social media platforms demanding the cancellation of Classes 10 and 12 AP board examination.

AP Inter exams 2021 are scheduled to be held from May 6 to 23. Andhra Pradesh Class 10 board exams will be held from June 7 to 16, 2021.


Tripura Board Exam 2021 Update : Tripura (TBSE) Class 10th, 12th Board Exams 2021 Postponed

In view of COVID-19 pandemic, Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE on Saturday announced that the board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 has been postponed until further notice.

“As per decision of TBSE the board examinations of Class 10 and Class 12 has been postponed for the time being until further notice,” reads a tweet from Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath.

“My message to all the students to be prepared for the examination as when the situation will be fruitful the examination will be conducted,” he added.

The order to postpone Class 10 and Class 12 board exams will be applicable for all government, government-aided, private schools, and madrassas of the state.

The Tripura Board Madhyamik exams, or Class 10 exams, were scheduled to begin from May 19, 2021, and the Higher Secondary Tripura board exams, or Class 12 exams would have started on May 18, 2021. The TBSE Tripura board exams were slated to be held in pen-and-paper mode.

A TBSE statement issued in this regard said: "Looking at the uprising situation of COVID-19 pandemic all over the country as well as in our state and also taking into account the safety and health of the students, it will not be judicious to hold ensuing HS (+2 Stage) and Madhyamik Examinations wef May 18 and May 19 respectively."

Further adding that the new exam schedule will be announced at least 15 days prior to the date of exams, it added: "The examination committee recommends to postpone these examinations for the time being and propose to hold the examinations when situation will be conducive with two weeks' notice."

Earlier, to contain the spread of the infection, the Tripura Government has postponed all undergraduate and postgraduate semester exams of private and government universities, and Classes 10, 12 pre-board exams.


Kerala Plus Two Exam 2021 Update : Paper Valuation Postponed Due To Spike In COVID Cases

Department of General and Higher Education Kerala on Friday announced that the paper valuation of plus two Higher Secondary examination has been postponed until further notice. The valuation was scheduled to begin on May 5. The revised date will be announced later.

"The valuation of higher secondary second-year examination scheduled for May 5 has been postponed. New dates will be announced later,” reads the official notification.

Kerala plus two examinations started on April 8 and concluded on April 26. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the examinations were conducted with strict adherence to safety protocols issued by the state.

Earlier, the general education department has announced the postponement of plus two higher secondary and vocational higher secondary practical examinations. The department said that the revised schedule for the practical exams will be notified later.

"The Higher Secondary/Vocational Higher Secondary theory examinations in Kerala are being completed today (26/04/2021). The present instruction is to start the practical examinations from the 28th. However, in the present scenario, the Higher Secondary / Vocational Higher Secondary Practical Examinations scheduled to start on 28/04/2021 have been temporarily postponed. Updated exam dates will be announced later," reads the official notification.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Higher Secondary equivalency exams scheduled from May 3 to May 8 have also been deferred.


West Bengal Board Exam 2021 Update : WBCHSE Class 12th Board Exams To Be Held At Home Centres

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE) on Friday said that board exams for Class 12 students, in a departure from the norm, would be held at their respective schools in June, on account of the COVID-19 tsunami across the state.

Mahua Das, the president of the council, said in a statement that exams will be held during the second half of the day on the scheduled dates. She also said that annual exams for Class 11 students have been suspended for the year.

"The higher secondary examinations for 2021 will be held in the respective educational institute of a candidate from 12 noon to 3.15 pm," she said.

Ms Das, however, maintained the council will be keeping a close watch on the COVID-19 situation, and all its decisions would be hinging on the evolving circumstances.

As for students of Class 11, schools have been told to teach selective portions of the syllabus in the next three months which would be of relevance to them for board exams next year, she added.

Higher Secondary exams are set to begin on June 15 and continue till July 2.


CGBSE Board Exam 2021 Update : Chhattisgarh (CGBSE) Class 10th Board Exam 2021 Cancelled, Class 12th Postponed

The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) on April 22 canceled Class 10 board exams and postponed Class 12 final exams, in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. As per the official notice released by CGBSE,Class 12 board exams will be held later when the situation improves. Earlier, the exams were scheduled for April-May. Class 10 students will be awarded marks on the basis of assignments, an official statement said.

“Students who have not achieved the minimum marks required or their assignment work is still pending, such students will be awarded passing marks. If a student is not satisfied with the marks given, they will be provided with an opportunity to appear for the board exams when COVID-19 situation improves,” said VK Goyal, secretary, CGBSE, in an official statement.

Earlier, the Chhattisgarh government promoted students of all the classes, except those from Classes 10 and 12, to the next higher classes without exams.

"All schools will be shut till further orders and all students, except class 10th and 12th, will be given general promotion to the next class without holding examinations," the government had said.

Amid the second wave of COVID-19, most of the state and central education boards have announced postponement and cancellation of their board exams.

CBSE and ICSE, the two central educational boards, will use alternative methods for declaring Class 10 results. State education boards in Maharashtra and Odisha have also adopted similar methods.


Goa Board Exams 2021 Update : GBSHSE Postpones Class 10th, 12th Board Exams 2021

Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has postponed Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) final exams until further notice. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the board will inform about the new exam dates 15 days in advance. Earlier, Goa Class 10, 12 board exams were scheduled to begin on April 24.

Last week, opposition parties in Goa demanded that Class 10 and 12 exams of the state board scheduled for April 24 be postponed or be held online in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Senior Congress leader Digambar Kamat, Goa Forward Party chief Vijai Sardesai and Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte said the Pramod Sawant government must postpone these exams for the safety of students.

In view of the second wave of COVID-19, many state and central education boards have postponed or canceled final exams for Class 10 and Class 12 students.

CBSE and CISCE, the two central education boards, will promote Class 10 and 12 students on the basis of alternative methods of evaluation.

Maharashtra and Odisha have recently taken decisions in line with the two central boards to promote their state board students of Class 10 on the basis of internal assessments.


Odisha Board Exam 2021 Update : Odisha Board Class 10th Board Exam 2021 Cancelled

Odisha government has announced the cancellation of the Class 10 board exams. The marks of the students will be decided on the basis of internal assessment, the government has said. Students who wish to appear in the exam will be given a chance later, it has added.

The decision comes a day after a large number of students staged a protest in front of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's residence seeking cancellation of the BSE matric exams.

Odisha Class 12 examinations for Arts, Science and Commerce streams, conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE), were slated to begin on May 19. Class 10 exams in the state were to start from May 3 and continue till May 15, 2021. A decision regarding Class 12 examinations will be taken in June first week.

All the students from Class 1 to 9 and Class 11 have been promoted to the next classes without examination, as per orders from Odisha government.


Maharashtra Board Exam 2021 Update : Maharashtra Board Class 10th Board Exam 2021 Cancelled

Maharashtra government has decided to cancel the Class 10 board exam 2021, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Varsha Gaikwad said on Tuesday.

Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the state government has decided to cancel the Class 10 board exam, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Varsha Gaikwad said on Tuesday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet here.

In a televised message, she said, "The (Class 10 board) exam is canceled. However, to bring parity across various higher secondary education boards, including of Maharashtra as well as central and international boards, a meeting (of stakeholders) will be called to finalize a roadmap."

Marks will be given to students based on internal assessment, but a process for the same is yet to be decided, Ms. Gaikwad said.

There is no decision as of now on how marks will be given to students who will be applying for Class 11 admission in various junior colleges.

"A decision on marking system will be finalized only after discussing the issue with various stakeholders, Ms. Gaikwad said after attending the cabinet meeting.


Uttarakhand Board Exam 2021 Update : Uttarakhand Class 10th Board Exams Cancelled; Class 12 Board Exams Postponed

Uttarakhand has cancelled the UBSE Class 10 board examinations and has postponed Class 12 board examinations due to rising COVID-19 cases in the state. Uttarakhand Minister for School and Sanskrit Education Arvind Pandey said that the government has decided to cancel the Class 10 or Matric board exams. Those students who would want to appear for the Class 10 exams later can appear for the same along with Class 12 board exams.

"Due to rising COVID-19 cases in the state and after consulting the Prime Minister, Uttarakhand government has decided to postpone Class 12 board exams. Their deferred dates will be communicated later. Further Class 10 board exams are cancelled. Once the new dates for Class 12 exams are announced, Class 10 students who wish to appear for the board exams will be allowed to do the same. The new dates for Class 10 exams will be announced later", Mr Arvind Pandey said.

The Uttarakhand School Education Board has scheduled the Class 10 and Class 10 and Class 12 board exams from May 4 to May 22. The UK Board exams were to take place in two shifts. The practical board exams already started on April 23 and were scheduled to end on April 25. While the results for both Classes 10 and 12 were to be announced on July 15.

This comes after CBSE had cancelled Class 10 board exams and postponed Class 12 board exams.

The COVID-19 cases in Uttarakhand surged as highest single-day cases were recorded on April 17 with 2,757 people testing positive, as reported by PTI which prompted the government to extend its night curfew.

Last year due to COVID-19 pandemic, Uttarakhand had to postpone few board exams as the virus cases rose in the state. The 2020 Class 10 board exams were to be held between March 3 and March 25 and Class 12 board exams between March 2 and March 25. The exams were rescheduled between June 20 and June 23.


JAC Board Exam 2021 Update : Jharkhand JAC Class 10th, 12th Board Exam 2021 Postponed

Class 10 and 12 final exams of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) have been postponed amid the second wave of COVID-19, an official statement said. The council will review the situation on June 1 and take further decisions regarding the conduct of these actions, it added. These exams were scheduled to be held from May 4 to May 21. Earlier this week, the JAC postponed practical exams for Classes 10, and 12. The practical exams started on April 6.

"All the practical examinations of Class 10 and 12 of the year 2021 are postponed with immediate effect. Further information in this regard will be published later," the JAC had said.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has already announced postponement of Class 12 board exams and cancellation of Class 10 final exams. Both the boards will promote Class 10 students following alternative methods of assessment.

After CBSE’s announcement, and keeping in view the current situation of COVID-19, many state boards have decided to promote, cancel their board exams.

On April 18, the National Testing Agency (NTA) deferred the April session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, the undergraduate engineering admission test. The exams are being held in four sessions this year and two sessions, February and March, have already been conducted.


ICSE, ISC Board Exams 2021 Update : ICSE ISC Class 10th, 12th Board Exams 2021 Postponed

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has postponed ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) final exams in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the light of the second wave of COVID-19, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has postponed ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) final exams. The ICSE final exams were scheduled for May 4 to June 7 and ISC or Class 12 final exams started on April 8. The COVID situation will be monitored closely and a final decision on these exams will be taken in the first week of June 2021, the council said.

While ISC final exams will be held later, Class 10 or ICSE students will have the option to take their board exams offline. They can also choose not to appear in the offline exam, the board said.

Class 10 students who do not appear in offline exams will be evaluated based on an alternative assessment method.

“In view of the ICSE (Class 10) candidates opting for the second option, the CISCE will develop an unbiased criterion while preparing the result of such candidates,” an official statement said.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on April 14 postponed its Class 12 exams and cancelled Class 10 final exams. CBSE had said it will develop an “objective criterion” to evaluate and promote Class 10 students.

Soon after CBSE’s announcement, students from schools affiliated to the CISCE started asking for a similar decision for their board exams.

Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary, CISCE, had informed Careers360 that a decision for Class 10, 12 students will be taken soon.

"The CISCE board will take a decision regarding its ICSE (Class 10) and ISC (Class 12) examinations 2021 at the earliest and will inform all concerned afterwards," Mr Arathoon had earlier said.
